London-based DJ/producer Mina returns to the label with new single, ‘Allo’, featuring rising afrobeats stars Omo Frenchie and Gafacci.
On ‘Allo’, Mina breathes new life into ‘Ringtone Riddim’ — a track taken from ‘Sentah’ — by enlisting the vocal talents of London-based Congolese MC Omo Frenchie,. His 2017 debut EP, ‘Diamond In The Dirt’, saw him collaborate with artists like Abra Cadabra and gather praise for his unique multilingual style that combines English, French and Lingala.
Bonding over a shared love of West-African rhythms and dancehall beats — the two biggest influences that shape Mina’s personal style — the artists linked up at Red Bull Studios in London and an immediate connection was made over the instrumental, inspiring Frenchie to come up with the vocals on the spot.
‘Allo’ drops as Mina’s first release of 2018, which is already shaping up to be her most defining yet, following a breakthrough 12 months that saw her debut on Boiler Room, rack up shows across Europe and collaborate with Ghanaian MC, Bryte, on More Time Records single, ‘Make Money’.
