With a cheeky mid week release, East London's R&B singer / songwriter, Rachel Foxx drops her anticipated 'Flame (EP)'. After a successful 2017 which saw her do a Colors Session, drop a single (from this EP) 'Happen To Me' which streamed over a quarter of a million times and feature on a BBC Radio 1's Toddla T's single,
Rachel finally drops an EP with her unique tone and eclectic styles of R&B. 'Flame' showcases her ability to make 90s inspired R&B ('Wish) and move with the times and melodically manoeuvre over a dancehall infused beat ('Mistress', which ironically uses lyrics from 90's classic 'Touch Me, Tease Me').
With such a unique vocal tone, Rachel has been able to fine the right combination of beats to compliment her tone with the stand out disco themed 'Happen To Me' being the perfect sonic instrumental bed to carry her incredible voice. This is also demonstrated on ballad 'Wrong', which another example of her talents as a song writer. Her song writing is not complex, but nor is it simple with a lot of double rhyming patterns and clever word play.
With 'Happen To Me' and 'Mistress' (minus the rap feature) being out for a while, and 'Wish' recently BBC 1Xtra's R&B track of The Week! You are treated to 4 unreleased tracks that don't disappoint and you can clearly hear Rachel's evolution as a vocalist and song writer in this EP from previous efforts. 'Flame' is out now on all digital platforms to buy or stream.
