Following on from her successful ‘Caught Up’ EP released last year, 23-year-old Sarah Close is back with her highly anticipated new single ‘You Say’, an enthralling modern pop masterpiece with an unshakably roaring chorus, out today (18th July) via her own label The Kodiak Club / AWAL.
‘You Say’ is a riveting electro-pop anthem which showcases Sarah’s stunning vocal that resonates throughout the track and through her relatable, catchy lyrics. The new single is about an ex-partner trying to get back into your life knowing that you’re happy and have finally moved on from the failed relationship. On ‘You Say’, Sarah explains "I wrote this song about someone I met when I first moved to London and drew on my influences from artists such as Haim, Charli XCX and Carole King, with the aim to create a powerful upbeat fun song to celebrate being over someone. I worked very closely with my friend EasyFunn who produced the track and gave it the energy I always imagined”
Hailing from the Isle of Wight, and writing songs since the age of 6, a 14 year old Sarah started a YouTube channel with hopes that it would lead to a music career. Dreaming of a life beyond living in a small village on an island and knowing her dream was to move to London to pursue her career in music, at 18 years old Close enrolled in a songwriting course at North London’s Institute of Contemporary Music and Performance – a decision galvanised by seeing other musicians online becoming successful artists in their own right, writing their own original material. Whilst studying, Sarah’s social following rapidly multiplied in its thousands making her into an online sensation and so in her second year, Sarah decided to leave the course to pursue her music career on her own.
Since her debut release, Sarah has received accolades from the likes of CLASH, The Line Of Best Fit, Evening Standard and tmrw Mag, as well as hitting #1 on many global viral Spotify lists and selling out her debut UK tour, including her second ever London show, headlining Heaven. Previously working alongside Parlophone Records, Sarah is now back in full control releasing music independently through The Kodiak Club, via AWAL.
Sarah Close has an undeniable talent to create dynamic, uplifting pop gems with memorable hooks, which makes her an exciting one to watch. With a thriving online presence, it undoubtedly shows an appetite for her own original music and Sarah plans to continue to release more music in 2018.
