Girls I Rate are pleased to announce the return of GIR Arts Academy.
This year Girls I Rate is in collaboration with BMG, ASCAP & PRS Foundation. They are calling all females 16-30 to join them for the fourth songwriting weekender on the 10th & 11th November at The Academy of Contemporary Music, Clapham.
Following three successful songwriting weekenders the GIR Arts Academy Weekender returns in November to give 15 aspiring female songwriters a fun, educational and practical experience at a 2-day course.
The weekender will touch on skills such as improvisation, melody writing, lyric writing, vocal recording and arrangement as well as a chance to meet some of the best undiscovered aspiring female songwriters from across the UK.
We pride ourselves on being one of the leading movements within the UK advocating and empowering female creatives, and over the past two and half years have had over 2000 young female creative artists sign up to our books.
The Weekender will be hosted by GIR Founder and international songwriter Carla Marie Williams whose writing credits include Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Sean Paul and many more. Tutors Simon Smith (Britney Spears, Paloma Faith) & Tanya Lacey (Will. I. Am, Tori Kelly) will also be working with the girls over the weekend!
Those taking part in the weekender will walk away with a professionally recorded demo, which will be showcased to A&R’s and friends at the end of Academy Mixer hosted by DJ Nadia Jae (1Xtra, SBTV, Boxpark).
Any female songwriters that may be interested in attending sign up to their website. You can also show your support by donating to their causes or by sponsoring coming events in 2019.
