Subculture Sage drop new single 'Scatter', from forthcoming EP 'Niccolo's Dead'
Taken from forthcoming six-track EP, ‘Niccolo’s Dead’, fiery new Subculture Sage single ‘Scatter’ follows ‘Same Old Thing’ in laying down a marker; this is a duo intent on making their presence felt in 2018.
Fuelled by a refusal to be typecast or fit within any wider genre box, ‘Scatter’ is raw and explosive, from the eerie, crunching intensity of Subculture’s grime-plated beats to Hypeman Sage’s say-it-with-your-chest, quick-fire lyricism; “Subculture Sage run up the show”, rings out Sage on the chorus.
Backed by tastemaker DJs like Zane Lowe, DJ Target and Phil Taggart over the last five years — as well as a raft of leading blogs including SBTV, Pigeons & Planes and newspapers like The Independent — their new EP lands as their best and most absorbing work yet. Emboldened by a desire to keep pushing their own sonics forward, ‘Scatter’ is the second single to drop from ‘Niccolo’s Dead’, which also boasts features from Foreign Beggars duo Dizmack and Orifice Vulgatron.
