#NewVideo | Tobi Sunmola - Not The One
Following the release of critically-acclaimed single “Be My Lover” and the EP “Good Guys Don’t Survive” last month, Tobi Sunmola now drops icy new visuals for “Not the One” – a bouncy, jagged track taken from the EP.
Tobi is of Nigerian origin, but moved to Manchester at the age of sixteen, his passion for music developing at his local youth centre studio. Receiving support from local press including the THE METRO and MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS, Tobi’s talent was quick to receive attention and the emerging talent has since been named as MOBO’s ‘One to Watch’ and championed by BBC R1 DJ’s including Mistajam and Huw Stephens.
On “Not The One”, the up-tempo bassline and siren wail instrumental balances a sything lyricism that continues to cement Tobi’s signature of innovation and melodic experimentation that will conjure relevant comparisons to the likes of Bipolar Sunshine as much as to Kojey Radical.
Working with some of the brightest emerging names in the in the game including Joe Hertz, Bipolar Sunshine and Wretch 32, Tobi has continued to build presence this year as the face of the Reebok Classic Collective alongside Lotto Boyzz and Snoochie Shy. As part of the campaign, Tobi ran a workshop in Manchester where one emerging artist was selected to perform alongside Tobi at the recent Reebok Classic Collective Party in London. With the kinds of cosigns he’s getting already and the clear innovation in his music and aesthetic, get ready to hear a lot more from this rising star in 2019.
