#MusicNews | The Rap Game UK to be aired on Friday 23rd August
Based on the remake of the US series The Rap Game, the TV reality show about the unsigned UK rappers battling with each other will be first aired on Friday 23rd August, 10am, BBC Three.
This brand new series will have the seven acts house-sharing at a soulless-looking penthouse in Birmingham for 6 weeks and showcasing their rapping talents at weekly challenges with Krept & Konan and DJ Target as their mentors and judges. The winner will have the chance to land a recording contact with Krept & Konan’s Play Dirty label.
As the lack of diversity in reality television continues to be a major issue, it is refreshing to see something where the vast majority of contestants, hosts and guests are from a BAME background. On top of that, many of the seven aspiring stars are from unlikely hip-hop hotbeds such as Scunthorpe and Aberdeen and the series will some good guest appearances who will all drop by to offer advice: Ghetts, AJ Tracey, NSG, Mist, Jae5 and Lady Leshurr.
Unlike X-Factor, the seven contestants on the first episode were already hand-picked from large amounts of applications purely for their talents so therefore there’ll be no rappers who are there for comedy value or will be judged for their lack of rap skills.
Amazing to be see how far Krept & Konan went with their rap career after they had staged iluvlive in 2011. Check them out back then on our flashback video
