Artist Development Act Xadi releases new single 'Dust'

“As ever, there's a soulful element to Xadi's work, leading to a cinematic intimacy.” - Clash

“An artist whose stock has been rising at a quickening pace, Xadi has built a reputation for conscientious, meaningful writing and genre fluid, sincere instrumentals.”  - The Pit London

“....rapper, multi-instrumentalist, producer and Cambridge scholar, Xadi has begun to garner a reputation for his conscious songwriting and honest, soulful lyrical expression.’ - Spindle

Hot on the heels of ‘ Noctis’, Xadi’s collaboration with Feux in September, West-London rapper / producer / vocalist ‘Xadi’ returns with, ‘Dust,’ the first single from his forthcoming EP, ‘Floating in Lilac’ dropping 18th November.

Xadi says of the track,

‘Dust’ was the last song I wrote on the EP. I had found myself writing a lot more songs on which I was singing than in the past. However, as I was coming towards the end of the project, I remembered again how much I love rap music. This song is almost a life update to my listeners, breaking down the gripes I have with the process of being an artist, the chip on my shoulder, and the need to prove that I really can take this type of art to the highest level. It’s at a point in the EP where the ego is taking over, the hesitations about my place in this space are gone, and I’m reflecting on my achievements since starting a career in music. I produced the song by sampling myself singing 5 different parts of a choir, as well as mixing and mastering the track. This song, from production, to melody, to lyricism, is me without interference.’

The artwork for both the single and EP were painted by his best friend ‘Centeno Art’ and Xadi says, ‘The artwork for Dust represents the fact that when I wrote this song I was really stepping into the Dojo, I was ready to spar.’

Xadi has garnered a reputation for his unique songwriting ability and honest, soulful lyrical expression. His music is versatile and not easily categorised, deftly blending elements of alternative hip-hop and R&B. At the turn of the year, he was selected to be a part of Reprezent Radio’s ‘Facing Forward 2021’ campaign, made  iluvlive’s 2021 Hotlist Top 10 and just hit a million streams on single ‘Manana’ released in Nov 20. Previous radio support has come via BBC Radio 1, 1xtra, Reprezent, Rinse, NTS, Balamii, No Signal and Foundation FM. With additional co-signs from the likes of Kojey Radical and Jamz Supernova, this project looks set to be his biggest yet.
