#NEWMUSIC | Vibbar - San Junipero (EP)

Vibbar is a collective of rappers and producers from London. Headed by YouTube Influencer Poet, famous for his Football YouTube content and causing havoc on his Boiler Room show, “Gas Works”. Vibbar also consists of Skits (ex- Piffgang & currently DB Soundsystem), Pepstar, Jordy, Skribz and producer TJ.

The collective spent around a year putting together this project and the results are a well produced vibe tape with intelligent wordplay and recognisable samples. Poet’s usual wit is conveyed in lyricism with him holding must of the vocal content on this project with some really introspective verses. He is complimented by strong cameo's from Jordy, Skribz and Skits and we get a rare appearance from one of this countries best kept secrets, Pepstar, who has really robbed us by being so quiet on the music front in recent years.

On production is predominantly TJ, who’s ear for samples is second to none and ability to build sonic ear candy around these samples is even more impressive. It’s great to see an emerging UK producer creat sample based Hip Hop to a high level and with such musicality. This was an art I had fear would become extinct in the era of electronic afro inspired music but Vibbar have revived it in a similar way Children Of Zeus have.

The project also features vocal appearance by Morgan Munroe who iluvlive have supported heavily over the past 12 months. The singer songwriter inputs some soulful harmonies to 2 songs she features on.

San Junipero was a bit of a surprise! I didn’t expect the collective to deliver such a strong project. The rhymes steer clear of the roads and drug talk and Vibbar focus on discussing enjoying life, women troubles and finding new ways to play around with words (Bellerin).
