RUVIMBO 'Water' Out Now

“RUVIMBO has a future-facing R&B/soul sound that is bound to latch on…….. How can this genre be dead with a talent like RUVIMBO coming through?" - Joseph  'JP' Patterson (Senior Editor, Complex Magazine / EIC, TRENCH Magazine)

New single ‘Water’ is a sublime meditation on the effects of depression and is British Zimbabwean singer/ songwriter RUVIMBO’s first offering since the release of ‘Ivy Kid’ in late 2019. Drawing influences from various genres to form her own eclectic sound and voice, she says of the track:
A friend of mine passed away last year unexpectedly. For a while I thought I was too sad to write music any more and then this song came out of nowhere. It felt like a deep breath. 'Water' documents that time in my life - the feeling of overwhelming sadness, as if you're drowning in that emotion. So you try everything and anything to distract yourself from that feeling.’

From music to poetry, RUVIMBO’s work has always explored difficult topics with her poetry being commissioned by Apples & Snakes and Beatfreaks, published by SISTA and Verve Poetry Press and performed at BareLit Fest, SPINE and National Poetry Day.

RUVIMBO's music has been featured on BBC Radio 1, BBC 1xtra, BBC Radio Introducing London, Reprezent Radio, Complex UK and TRENCH to name a few.

RUVIMBO was also selected from over 300 applicants to join the iluvlive Artist Development programme in July 2020. So, with some extra support in place and an EP following ‘Water’ in September, we expect to hear a lot more from RUVIMBO this summer and beyond.
